Introduction

The Ruaha National Park is one of Africa’s premier birding destinations, but you’ll also find the highest population of elephants in Tanzania and the rest of the ‘Big Five’ here. At the Nyerere National Park, you will be idyllically accommodated on the banks of the Rufiji River, where boat excursions are complemented by immersive cultural experiences and expertly led games drives and bush walks. 

Day-by-Day

Day 1 - 3: Nomad Kigelia Ruaha

Staying in the heart of Tanzania’s largest park, with fantastic access routes to the great wildlife filled plains, begin your southern Tanzania experience at the Kigelia Ruaha, an understated camp with a secluded and exclusive ambience. Three days are afforded to explore the unique topography of the park and its myriad of wildlife which include the largest population of elephants in Tanzania, big cats, large populations of buffalo, kudus, and more than 400 species of bird.

Day 4 - 6: Nomad Sand River Selous

Conclude your southern Tanzania holiday in the vast Selous Game Reserve, staying in a beautiful location on the banks of the Rufiji River at the Sand River Selous. Thatch cottages directly overlook the river, ideal to observe the plethora of water dwelling wildlife. Game drives of the reserve are conducted by expert guides and complemented by an array of immersive experiences including cultural visits to tribal communities, walking safaris, and boat trips along the serene river.
