Introduction

On a 12-day self-drive holiday, road tripping from Toronto to Montreal, comprehensively explore the eastern provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Together they provide the backdrop of some of Canada’s most impressive sites and iconic destinations. Experience the thunder of Niagara Falls, laze amongst the idyllic lakes of the Algonquin Park, and discover the contrasts of the cities of Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal. On the road, you will find endless natural highlights showcasing the extraordinary diversity of this wonderful corner of the world. 

Day-by-Day

Day 1 & 2: Toronto

Take in Canada’s most iconic skyline with a two-night stay in Toronto, one of Canada's most dynamic cities, to kick off your self-drive adventure.  

Day 3: Niagara Falls

Leaving the city, drive along the scenic shores of Lake Ontario and through the orchards and vineyards of the Niagara Peninsula towards Niagara-on-the-Lake. We recommend stopping for lunch in this historic town before continuing along the Niagara Parkway until you reach the iconic natural wonder. Upon arrival in Niagara Falls and using your provided Adventure Pass, you’ll have access to all the popular attractions, including a scenic cruise upon its famous waters. 

Day 4 & 5: Huntsville / Algonquin Park

Drive east into Muskoka country, where shimmering lakes gleam under brilliant blue skies. The area has been a celebrated holiday destination for centuries and you’ll be accommodated for the night in the ‘cottage country’ right on the banks of the peaceful Peninsula Lake. The following day, explore Algonquin Park, abundant with natural gems and activities. 

Day 6 & 7: Ottawa

Take the scenic route to Ottawa, Canada’s compelling capital that is brimming with verdant parks, fascinating museums, and scenic waterways. Two nights are afforded here with a hop-on hop-off city tour experience included as well as an informative cruise along the Ottawa River, to learn about the historic buildings that line the banks and the role that they have played in the evolution of the country. 

Day 8 & 9: Quebec City

Drive through the gorgeous changing landscapes of rural Ontario, with a recommended stop at the charming town of Trois-Rivieres, until you reach the beautiful city of Quebec. The following morning there is a choice of three excursions to help personalise your day’s exploring. Immerse yourself amongst the historic districts of the city on a guided walking tour; travel along the renowned Chemin du Roy to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre to visit the Montmorency Falls and the Island of Orleans; or discover the province’s rich culinary scene on a food tour.

Day 10 & 11: Montreal

Following the St. Lawrence River, observe how the landscapes change from urban development to rural forested trails, dotted with tiny villages, on a scenic drive to Montreal. Drop off your vehicle and enjoy two-nights in the eclectic city. A choice of excursions are available to you on your final full day of the itinerary. Take a guided driving tour of Montreal, taking in all the major sights; explore the winding cobblestone streets of Old Montreal on a walking tour; or explore the markets and the city’s best culinary spots on a guided food tour. 

Day 12: Departure

Check-out of your hotel and transfer to the airport ready for departure.
