Introduction
This holiday perfectly blends the exciting cities of San Francisco and San Diego with the raw natural beauty of the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Beginning in San Franciso with time to explore the many attractions of this hugely popular US city, including Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and so much more.
Then spend five incredible nights on the verdant, stunning Kauai, where waterfalls and spectacular views will leave you breathless. Finally, enjoy the city and surrounding area of San Diego, with the freedom of a hire car.
Day-by-Day
Day 1 -3: San Francisco
Arrive in San Francisco and transfer to your hotel in the city, where you can simply relax and enjoy the facilities or head out to explore. The following morning you may decide to head to Fisherman’s wharf for a stroll along the famous harbour then catch the boat to Alcatraz for a guided tour of ‘The Rock’. Then, make use of the San Francisco trams to discover why this is one of Americas best loved cities.
Day 4 - 8: Kauai, Hawaii
Transfer back to the airport and fly to the island of Kauai in Hawaii. This picturesque island is known as ‘the garden isle’ thanks to its lush tropical landscapes, being the greenest of all of Hawaii’s islands and home to one of America’s best beaches. Explore the many hiking trails through verdant rainforests to discover beautiful waterfalls and spectacular panoramas. Hire a Kayak and paddle the Wailua River or head to Poipu Beach to snorkel amongst the brightly coloured fish. This beautiful island offers a variety of activities, but its laid-back atmosphere ensures this tropical escape delivers pure relaxation too.
Day 9 - 11: San Diego
Fly from Kauai to Los Angeles and collect your car from the airport, and head south towards San Diego, California’s southern-most city. The Mediterranean-like climate, beautiful beaches, history-filled neighbourhoods, and village-like communities make San Diego a fantastic city to visit. With over 150 breweries, the craft beer scene is thriving, and the eateries of the Gaslamp Quarter ensure foodies are well catered for. From the world-famous San Diego Zoo, for shopping head to upscale coastal La Jolla or head out to sea on a marine safari.
Day 12: Depart Los Angeles
Return to Los Angeles and drop off the hire car at the airport before catching your flight home.
