When Do You Want To Go?
Epic limestone formations bursting from the emerald water, magnificent temples glistening in the sunlight, mist topped mountains quietly lining terraced paddy fields, endless beaches on tropical islands filled with swaying palms and lapped by crystal-clear waters – this is Thailand!
Most journeys begin in the country’s capital Bangkok, a city full of life and colour, with new experiences at every turn. Wander the fascinating floating market, a moving menagerie of fruits, flowers and people on paddle boats, take a Tuk Tuk tour of the most tantalising street food stalls, cruise along the Chao Phraya river or marvel at the splendour of the Grand Palace and Wat Pho – home of the famous Reclining Buddha. When the sun goes down, the city lights up, head to one of the many roof-top bars for a cocktail and a view of Bangkok’s beating heart.
From here the choices are endless, head north to Chang Rai and the Golden Triangle, for picturesque views across what used to be known as the land of a million rice fields. Watch as the water buffalo slowly plough the paddies, trek through the atmospheric mountains - home to the many hilltribes or walk with the elephants at one of the areas sanctuaries. The treasures of southern Thailand are also plentiful, with astoundingly beautiful national parks such as Khao Sok and Phang Nga Bay, many idyllic islands, from peaceful retreats like Koh Kradan, to picturesque Phuket, family favourite Koh Samui or barefoot party vibes at Koh Phangan.
In Thailand, the journeys themselves are all part of the experience, whether its cruising down the mighty Mekong River, sailing in the islands, kayaking through the national marine parks, riding the trains through the stunning countryside or even hopping on a traditional rice barge.
The friendly and good-humoured people of Thailand are world-famous for their hospitality and of course their smile, they aim to bring the concept of ‘Sanuk’ or fun, into everyday life. Thailand truly is a remarkable destination that seems to have a magical blend of natural splendour, history, spirituality and charm, the ‘Land of Smiles’ stays with you long after you leave.
